Presentation of the Department of Medicine
 
The Department of Medicine was established on 1st January 2014 by the merger of the Departments of Internal Medicine and Clinical and Experimental Medicine with integration of teachers related to the disciplines of Dermatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology. The Department of Medicine is organized in homogeneous research areas  for the purpose and method and includes teachings of the former Faculty of Medicine, located mainly in the second three-year degree course in Medicine and Surgery, degree courses in health and other degree programs medical and biological oriented. The disciplines involved belong to the area of ​​Internal Medicine, Specialistic Medicine, Pharmacology and the Prevention, with a view to increasing  scientific, educational and care integration. More specifically, the disciplines in the Department take between their skills through clinics, specialist and pharmacological skills in a multidisciplinary system, rich and integrated, appropriate to the current needs of health care, scientific research, prevention in the living and work environment and the training activities typical of modern molecular and clinical medicine. The activities of the Department, in its various activities from internal medicine to specialized clinics, pharmacology, medical therapy and prevention activity, promote harmonization of educational, care and scientific research activities related to the broad field of clinical medicine. In fact, the possibilities of collaboration and coordination between the different disciplines represent a clear element of qualification activities of the Department. The high degree of integration of the disciplines of the Department is a necessary precondition for achieving a scientific research of high quality and integrated care to the patient, from the prevention to the interdisciplinary diagnostic iter and different therapeutic solutions, including drug therapy. The structure of the Department also allows a teaching-scientific integration as to be able to better coordinate and enhance the activities in the various aspects of the care in perspective of the modern medicine, human pathology and medical therapy and can offer important resources not only for training in degree courses but also in post-graduate education (Graduate Schools, Doctoral, Masters, activities of Continuing Medical Education).
